Natural, confident smile — porcelain veneers at Smile Spot Dentistry, Venice, Florida

Veneers designed
to look like you —
only refined.

Porcelain veneers designed around facial harmony, natural light behavior, and enamel preservation — creating elegant, believable smiles without the overdone look.

"The goal is a smile that looks like it was always there."

Why People Consider Veneers

They don't want veneers.
They want to stop hiding.

Most people aren't looking for porcelain. They're looking for the freedom to smile without thinking about the one tooth that bothers them. Veneers may be considered when worn, chipped, discolored or uneven teeth begin to affect how you feel about your smile.

Be in the photograph

03Why Some Veneers Look Fake

It's not the veneer.
It's the design.

Natural-looking veneers are the result of facial analysis, proportion and material selection — not just a whiter tooth.

04A More Natural Approach

A better smile.Not a different face.

"Veneers should never be the first thing people notice. The smile should be."

05Am I a Good Candidate?

Veneers are right
for some patients.
Not every patient.

The best veneer candidates have a specific concern they want to address — and healthy underlying teeth to build on. Dr. Sellappan will tell you honestly at a consultation whether veneers are the right solution, or whether a more conservative approach would serve you better.

Worn or shortened teeth

Years of grinding, acid erosion or natural wear can flatten incisal edges and reduce tooth length, changing smile proportion and bite.

Chips, cracks or fractures

Visible structural damage to the front teeth can affect both appearance and function, particularly within the smile zone.

Discoloration whitening can't fix

Intrinsic staining from tetracycline, fluorosis or previous root canal treatment may not respond predictably to professional whitening.

Spacing, gaps or asymmetry

Uneven spacing, tooth size or proportions may be considered for veneers when orthodontic treatment alone won't resolve the aesthetic concern.

Old bonding or restorations

Aging composite bonding can stain, chip or stop matching surrounding teeth; older metal restorations may also become visible in the smile zone.

A smile that has aged

Years of wear and subtle changes in tooth length and proportion can gradually alter the appearance of the smile.

06Materials & Craftsmanship

The right material depends on the result you're trying to create.

Material selection affects translucency, strength, surface character and how conservatively a restoration can be designed. Dr. Sellappan selects the ceramic — or composite alternative — after evaluating the tooth, bite, enamel and your aesthetic goal.

Do Veneers Damage Teeth?

Enamel preservation
is not an option.
It's a standard.

This is the question every thoughtful patient asks — and they're right to ask it. Veneers should be planned with a conservative, enamel-first philosophy. The amount of enamel preparation depends on your specific case, including tooth position, restorative design and the material used.

At Smile Spot, Dr. Sellappan uses minimally invasive preparation and biomimetic protocols to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible. Some cases can be done with little to no enamel reduction. Not every patient needs the same approach — and that's why a consultation matters.

Minimal-prep first

Every case begins with the most conservative preparation appropriate to your goals, anatomy and clinical situation.

No-prep when appropriate

Selected cases may require little or no enamel reduction, allowing for a highly conservative, enamel-preserving approach.

Additive over subtractive

Biomimetic dentistry prioritizes preserving natural tooth structure and function, adding only what's needed to achieve a healthy, beautiful result.

The Veneer Process

Every step explained.
No surprises.

Fear about veneers is almost always fear of the unknown. Here's exactly what happens — from the first conversation to the final seating.

Smile Consultation

Smile photography, RayFace 3D facial scan, iTero digital impressions, and an unhurried conversation about your goals. No recommendations until we understand your face.

Facial Analysis

RayFace merges your facial and dental data. Dr. Sellappan designs your new smile in context of your face — calibrating smile arc, incisal edge, and proportions before selecting any material.

Smile Preview

You review the digital simulation on screen with Dr. Sellappan. Adjustments are made in real time. Treatment does not proceed until you approve the design.

Prep & Temporaries

Minimal enamel preparation. Temporary veneers placed while your final restorations are fabricated — you leave with an aesthetic smile and a final opportunity to give feedback.

Final Delivery

Your porcelain veneers are seated and bonded with shade verification under clinical and natural light. The finish detail is where the difference between good and exceptional lives.

"You approve the design before final porcelain is created. Nothing moves forward until it feels right."

Investment

Why veneer
costs vary.

Veneer investment isn't arbitrary. At Smile Spot, IPS E.max porcelain veneers range from $1,800 to $2,500 per tooth, and composite bonding from $300 to $600, depending on the indication and treatment plan. The difference reflects material, planning time, ceramist artistry and the complexity of creating a restoration designed specifically for your smile. Every case is quoted transparently after your consultation — no surprises.

Material

IPS E.max and feldspathic porcelain cost more than composite — because their optical behavior, strength and longevity are different. You see the difference in how light moves through the tooth, and how naturally it blends with your smile.

Planning

The RayFace facial analysis, digital simulation and temporary phase are part of the investment. They allow Dr. Sellappan to design a smile that fits your face, bite and goals — and separate results that last from ones that need revision.

Ceramist artistry

Every Smile Spot veneer is fabricated to Dr. Sellappan's prescription — with custom shade mapping, surface texture and translucency layers. The ceramist is selected for the case, not the price point.

Longevity

With proper case selection, placement and maintenance, porcelain veneers can provide many years of beautiful, stable results. The long-term value comes from doing it right the first time.

Common Questions

Everything you wanted to ask.

At Smile Spot Dentistry, porcelain veneers typically range from $1,800–$2,500 per tooth. Composite bonding for selected minor corrections typically ranges from $300–$600 per tooth. Your final investment depends on the treatment selected, number of teeth treated and complexity of your case. Your exact fee is reviewed with you after consultation and smile-design planning.
They can — if they're over-prepared, opaque, oversized, or designed without reference to the patient's face. At Smile Spot, every veneer case begins with RayFace facial analysis so proportions, smile arc, and tooth length are calibrated to your face. Material selection, surface texture specification, and translucency layering are part of every case. Natural-looking veneers are the result of the right process — not luck.
Traditional veneers require removing 0.3–0.7mm of enamel — a permanent change significantly less than a crown preparation. With a biomimetic approach, this can be minimised further. No-prep veneers like Lumineers require little or no enamel removal and are a potentially reversible option for suitable candidates. Dr. Sellappan's philosophy is to prepare as conservatively as the case allows — never more than required.
Traditional veneers are considered permanent because they require enamel removal — once prepared, the tooth will always need a veneer or restoration. No-prep Lumineers are potentially reversible since no enamel is removed. Porcelain veneers themselves last 15–20 years and are then replaced, not removed. The commitment is to the preparation — which is why it must be as conservative as possible from the outset.
Porcelain veneers can provide many years of service, but longevity varies with the material, bite, tooth preparation, bonding, habits and maintenance. Dr. Sellappan evaluates these factors during planning and will discuss what is appropriate for your case.
Yes — veneers are one of the most effective solutions for worn or shortened teeth, particularly when grinding has flattened the incisal edges over time. IPS E.max or zirconia can restore the length, shape, and proportion that erosion has removed. In cases of significant wear, Dr. Sellappan may recommend addressing the underlying bite or bruxism habit before or alongside the cosmetic treatment to protect the investment.
Cosmetic bonding uses composite resin sculpted directly onto the tooth in a single appointment — no lab, no preparation, often reversible. Excellent for minor chips, gaps, and asymmetries. Veneers are custom-fabricated ceramic restorations — stronger, more translucent, more stain-resistant, and longer-lasting. Bonding is often the right starting point; veneers are the long-term solution. In some cases Dr. Sellappan will recommend starting with bonding before committing to porcelain.
In many cases, yes. Applying veneers over significantly misaligned teeth requires more enamel removal to achieve a straight appearance — defeating the purpose of a conservative approach. Invisalign clear aligners first creates a better foundation: less preparation, better proportions, longer-lasting results. Dr. Sellappan will tell you honestly at your consultation whether alignment should precede cosmetics.
Glazed porcelain is highly stain-resistant — far more so than natural enamel. However, the glaze can be abraded over time by gritty whitening toothpastes, leaving the surface more susceptible to staining. Use a non-abrasive toothpaste on veneered surfaces and the glaze stays intact. The resin cement at the margins can discolor over many years, which may eventually require replacement — typically a decade or more into the lifespan.
Porcelain veneers cannot be repaired — if chipped or fractured, the veneer is replaced. Composite resin veneers can often be repaired chairside in a single appointment. The most common causes of chipping are biting hard objects with front teeth, nail-biting, and grinding without a nightguard. A custom nightguard is the most effective protection for veneer investment, particularly in the first 12 months.
This depends entirely on your goals and which teeth are visible when you smile. Most patients address 6–10 upper anterior teeth — the "social six" or "smile ten." In some cases a single veneer on one tooth is the right answer. Dr. Sellappan will map your smile zone at the consultation and recommend only the number that serves the result — not the maximum.
The Smile Spot Approach

Five things to know before veneers.

Natural-looking veneers begin with design.

Material matters, but proportion, facial context, translucency and surface character determine whether a veneer belongs in the smile.

Enamel preservation guides every case.

Preparation is determined by the tooth, material and restorative design, with the goal of preserving natural tooth structure whenever clinically appropriate.

Design comes before treatment.

Facial and dental records are used to plan the smile, with the proposed design reviewed with you before treatment proceeds.

Material follows the indication.

IPS E.max, feldspathic porcelain and high-translucency zirconia offer different combinations of optical character and strength; selected cases may also be appropriate for an additive or no-prep approach.

The recommendation is individualized.

Dr. Meenachi Sellappan evaluates tooth structure, enamel, bite and aesthetic goals before recommending a material or treatment approach.

Veneers should never be
the first thing people notice.
